Weekend Roundup

This weekend we cleaned up more of the yard.

Clearing the apple tree

This weekend we cleaned up more of the yard.

Bill's stump removal service

Burning the brush

Stumps in the Hawthorns

This weekend Erik will be coming down with me to help with taking down the rest of the cedar trees and mulching them.

We also went to the burning goat day at our friend Cheri’s house.

A good time was had by all. We followed some other friend home to take a look at some glass that she wants Bill to take to PSG this year. Her father was a glass blower and has made some beautiful things. Unfortunately, he has had an accident and can no longer blow glass. She has boxes and boxes of this stuff – I didn’t take pictures yet since they are not mine to sell. But perhaps we will get some pictures of the booth set up this year at PSG to share and you can see some of this amazing work.

OMG!

Bread Pudding - with Whiskey sauce - delectable!

How Rude!

Bill and I picked up the flooring for the top floor of the new place last weekend. Went by yesterday evening to get the nails and just as we pulled up the guy notices us and turns off the light - how rude!

What's Cookin?

Sorry, running a little late this week with the posting of the menu. We went out for dinner last night. A friend of my son's and an aquaintence from WW were having a fund raiser last night at Texas Roadhouse for their brother/son that was hit by a car in January and is in a coma. Austen used to work with his twin sister who goes to my WW meeting. Erik and I went - the food was very good and the company as well! :)

Monday: Fund Raiser at Texas Roadhouse
Tuesday: leftover skillet lasagna
Wednesday: Sharon’s Company chicken (Dierbergs Everybody Cooks, March 2010),
Knorr Parmesan pasta sides, Roasted root Vegetables (Dierbergs March 2010)
Thursday: Spicy Crab, Shrimp and Cherry Tomato Gumbo (WW Best Food Ever cookbook)
Friday: eating out/or leftover gumbo at Bill’s
Saturday: Stuffed Green Pepper Soup (doubled and taking to Goat night)
Sunday: Lemon and Herb stuffed pork chops (WW Best), Collard Greens

As usual if you want a recipe just ask.

Are we still in Kansas Toto?

I was rudely awoken early this morning about 2:00AM to the sound of fierce wind (what DOES a freight train sound like at 2am?), thunder and rain hitting the bedroom window so hard I thought we were having a tornado!  I checked the weather and sure enough we were under a watch so I got up and just then the power flickered – not enough to make the clocks blink but enough to make the fire alarm chirp.  I stumbled downstairs to check if Austen was awake – he usually is that time of night.  I think I woke him.  Meghan came out of Erik’s room asking what was wrong.  I told her we were under a tornado watch to keep an ear open – then I went back to bed.

No, I really didn’t sleep much – off and on even after the storm passed.  Being woke up in the middle of the night to the point that I get up out of bed does not do well for going back to sleep on my part.  Surprisingly I’m not too tired this morning (watch, now I’ll be sleeping at my computer this afternoon).  Aubri slept though the entire thing!  I think you could set off an A-bomb in her bedroom and she would not wake.

Got up this morning to the sun shining, wet grass, some leaf buds all over the driveway from the maple next to it but no damage that I saw so far.  I really do need to walk around the back of the house and check the siding – that is the west side and that is were the wind comes from.  We have had a few spots were the siding likes to come loose before so I need to check those tonight.

I made multi-grain Bread today.  The recipe I got off the internet (Cookeatshare.com) it makes two REALLY BIG loaves.  I would show you the other but I had to use a bigger loaf pan for it and so it looks smaller.  :)
